Trees365 - review of 2010

So, 2010 is over, and that means my Trees365 challenge is at an end :o(

I won't stop taking tree pictures as I still love the variety, beauty and wonder of trees - in fact, I'm pretty certain that there will be many trees featuring on Window365.

Here is a slideshow of trees featured this year (bar a few that were guests and a few that 'got away') Enjoy!

Here we are at the end of 2010, and I'm about to post my final tree on Trees365.

I'm sad to reach the end of my Trees365 project as I've enjoyed doing it. It's made me look more at the world around me and I've appreciated the beauty of trees even more than I did previously.

Often I take for granted the beauty of the area in which I live and work, and how fortunate I am. A conversation with a teacher from a school no more than 6 miles away from mine who told me that her pupils would love even 1/10 of our school grounds really brought this home to me.

So, in 2011, I want to continue to make myself look up and out from my own little bubble and am therefore starting a new challenge - Window on my world 365

a view from a window for each day of 2011. I expect I'll have guest pictures as this year - in fact, I'm encouraging it - and I hope I can keep going as I have this year.

So here's to my new challenge!

I wonder what we'll see through the .....arched window.

I went for a run this morning with SEFitness.

The sky looked ominous as we set off and after ten minutes, a blizzard began! There followed an 'interesting' run/slide/walk/pootle as we negotiated patches of hidden ice - I did a marvellous imitation of Bambi on a huge icy puddle, and there were several falls.

But SO BEAUTIFUL! This photo doesn't do the beauty of the moment justice as it was taken on my iPhone whilst running but it gives you an idea!

In the back garden again, and one of my favourite trees.

i like this photo as it shows the two trunks bending away and then back towards each other, and also the peeling bark that is so characteristic of this tree.

First 'solo' run for a while today, and whilst I wasn't running very fluently, I didn't duck out at the first path to go home.

The beauty of the low autumn sunshine and the loveliness of the Country Valley Park kept me going. Not overly fast, admittedly, but I kept going.

Now to get back into the habit. Let's home autumn continues to help me and doesn't show its dark dank side.

Back from Nottingham, I went for a walk and hot chocolate in the park this afternoon with John and Isaac.

Liked the way the sun shone through the interestingly twisting branches of the tree. And also the carpet of red and orange leaves.

Having watched a programme earlier in the week about a disease that is ravaging the oak population, I was rather anxious to check our beautifui old oak tree at school.

Pleased to say, I found no sign of the black gashes that characterise the malaise so no need to worry!

I liked this shot, taken in the carpark by The Trinity Centre in Sutton Coldfield, as it has a lovely tree in the sunshine, with some interesting and very old gravestones as a wall at the base of the tree.

I took a photograph of this tree in April when I was at Apple Teacher Institute. Looked pretty bare then. Plucky little tree seems to be thriving now though - it's got leaves!

I spent Saturday at Center Parcs with my sister and our families.

A great day - slightly spoiled by me losing my iPhone in the pool, but I got it back just as we left so all's well that ends well!

As I walked down to Camden Lock for a Links into Languages meeting at the Holiday Inn, my eye was drawn to this tree on the opposite side of the road.

I love the pink touches on the extremes of the branches. Such a beautiful colour!

This was taken on Saturday as I walked from Imperial College, London, past the Royal Albert Hall towards Kensington Olympia to catch my train.

A 'tree from the past' today.

A beautiful tree stands in the centre of the village square in Salignac in the Dordogne where I spent a week learning French.

A wonderful week when I fell back in love with French after being turned off at secondary school.

Very special place!
